EDITION 2023
From June 2 to 4

The 12th edition of the art history festival, opened on Friday by Minister Rima Abdul Malak, has come to an end.

Thousands of curious festival-goers gathered in an exceptional setting to enjoy over 200 events, exhibitions, tours of the château and gardens, educational activities, performances, screenings, inspiring meetings and exchanges around the key theme of climate, with Belgium as guest country.

The Institut national d’histoire de l’art and the Château de Fontainebleau warmly thank the speakers and the public for this renewed enthusiasm, and all those who made it possible.

We look forward to seeing you again next year, for the next edition of the festival in 2024, which will welcome Mexico as guest country, and will be placed under the theme of sport.

WHAT IS THE FESTIVAL OF ART HISTORY?

Among the first events inaugurating the summer cultural season, the Festival of Art History takes place annually on the first weekend of June in Fontainebleau.

With conferences, round tables, film screenings, exhibitions, a book fair, student and professional meetings, visits of the chateau and grounds, workshops for children, and concerts, the Festival offers more than 250 events reflecting the richness of the visual arts from all periods.

For three days, specialists, students and aficionados of art meet in the exceptional setting of the Château de Fontainebleau for a moment of exchange around current research in art history.
