Festival team

The scientific programming of the Festival is provided by a dedicated team within the Department of Studies and Research of the National Institute for Art History.

Veerle Thielemans, scientific director

Veerle Thielemans is a doctor in art history specializing in 19th century French painting.
A graduate of the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) and former student of the École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Paris), she defended her doctoral thesis at Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, United States). After twenty years spent at the Terra Foundation for American Art, where she was Director of Academic Programs, she took over as head of the team dedicated to the Festival within the INHA in December 2018.

Fabien Lacouture, programming manager

Fabien Lacouture has a doctorate in the history of modern art from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, associate researcher at HICSA/Paris 1 and former student of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. He is the author of a thesis on the representations of the child in early modern northern and central Italian painting. He was also a postdoctoral researcher in 2020-2021 at the Department of Italian Studies at the University of Toronto. He joined the team dedicated to the festival as a scientific programming manager in the fall of 2021.

Damien Truchot, programmer and coordinator of the cinema section

Damien Truchot has taught the history and aesthetics of cinema. He is a specialist in the relationship between dance and cinema. He co-directed two films with Cédric Mazet Zaccardelli and Olivier Rignault, Continu (2014) and Parler de parler sans (2018). He directed and programmed the cinema L’Archipel in Paris from 2013 to 2020, and co-founded Enlève tes chaussons rouges, a festival of danced films, in Île-de-France. He is a member of the pre-selection committee of the Côté Court Festival in Pantin, and runs the Ciné Malraux in Bondy. He joined the team of the art history festival in autumn 2021.

Aniela Cornet, scientific and administrative coordinator

Aniela Cornet has a degree in international relations from the Inalco (languages: Russian and Polish) and in cultural management from the University of Paris Dauphine-PSL. She is passionate about project management and cultural cooperation abroad and in France. Before joining the Institut national d’histoire de l’art to assist the teams in the administrative and scientific implementation of the festival, she was an international volunteer at the Alliance Française de Saratov (Russia), then was in charge of international cultural expertise at the Ministry of Culture, and also assisted a museography consultancy agency in its development (Avesta Group).

 


The technical organization is based on the Château de Fontainebleau, which also develops the cultural program offered to festival-goers.

Damien Heurtebise, General Delegate

A graduate of the National School of Charters and the National Heritage Institute, Damien Heurtebise is chief heritage curator. In an internationally oriented career, he served as deputy head of the Nantes Diplomatic Archives Center before taking over the management of the French Institute of El Jadida and the general coordination of the world music festival. “ Nights of Ramadan ”.
In 2019, he joined the team of the Art History Festival, at the Château de Fontainebleau, as operational project director.
